I am absolutely charmed by this product and will place an order very soon. A couple of friendly thoughts : 1.Why not the USB 3.0? - this new standard will take over the anyway. 2.Why not to add a card reader?- at least for SD cards 3.Is it possible eliminate power cord - power just by USB? All mentioned above could turn the SPACE BAR into a perfect item,I guess... These few thing that I wanted to share with you. I gonna buy one anyway....

Any chance this is going to be made bigger? My keyboard is 20" wide, but what would be really awesome would be a 36" model capable of supporting two monitors. Alas, given what appears to be manufacturing difficulties, that may not be possible.

Does this have room for both the wireless keyboard, and the magic trackpad (both Apple) underneath?

You may have already reached this conclusion, but it looks like there will be some delays on this product. I've held off on updating the timelines until I had some updated info for y'all, and it looks like I may have to hold off a bit longer. Trust me: as soon as we receive new dates, I'll pass the info along to you. For now, I've removed the production timeline completely until I can update it with new information. If you want to discuss this product with other Quirky community members, please check out the forum thread dedicated to this subject: http://www.quirky.com/forums/topic/449. Looking forward to continuing the convo!

Vaporware is a word used to describe products, usually computer hardware or software, that were not released on the date announced by their developer. Not to take sides, but this is a very rare business model that Quirky operates on. You can call it vaporware but the entire product line is created on this site from the community. They were not claiming to make a product thats never been seen, or something that changes lives. They only made their best estimations to delivery. Now, the lack of updates is annoying. I dont mind waiting, as long as I know why I am waiting.

just NOW got off of the telephone with one of the "oh so knowledgeable marketing mouthpieces" and the claim now is that they are "in production" for the final product because the samples supplied by the "manufacturer" were not of the quality they had wanted/expected. but aren't you supposed to "bless" the product BEFORE you go full force into production? i am just asking mind you... i let her know that i felt she would go "far" in the marketing world and thanked her for her time. you know, this brings to mind the term VAPORWARE... i'll see...perhaps one day.

The last time I spoke to a representative (in April) I was told of a 'material' issue and that the launch was moved to August 14. I spoke today and now they don't have a date, but and the same issue exists - huh? How about an accurate update

well, the last comment was supposedly left two days ago...and not even an acknowledgment. since the date for receipt in the usa warehouse is "predicted/projected" to be within the next 48 hours, one WOULD think that at this point a shipping manifest and tracking information would provide us, the EARLY customers with something for our PATIENCE. so fess up and let us know!!!

There are a lot of different renderings, and suggestions of where the USB ports will be. (2 front 4 rear and what not) what is the final design gonna look like. Sorry if this is somewhere and I have missed it. Thank you again.

Hi Quirks! Sorry for the delay. The approximate dimensions of the Space Bar are 22" across, 6.5" deep, and 2" tall as of now. Keep in mind that these measurements may change slightly during the manufacturing process.

ZingerIntl 2010-07-04T16:05:40-04:00
I have looked, but can not find the actual dimensions. Do you have the final dimensions?
